I have faith that the shelves I bought from the container store hanging on my wall will continue to hold approximately 2600 CDs. You can't take my faith away from me. The clerk guaranteed that these shelves are sturdy and will not collapse.

The clerk guaranteed that these shelves are sturdy and will not collapse. So your faith is based completely on what the "Clerk" told you? Nice!

Well that and they've held up nicely for 5 years at several different apartment complexes. But if they fall while I am asleep, I'm f'd. Because, as of now, they are right next to my bed. There's not really any other place I can put them. I'm definitely moving out of this place. I'm a horrible judge of space when it comes to getting an apartment. Wish I could just get a house but don't really have that kind of money as of now.

do what I did- cut the number to about 1/3rd. a few nicely packed hard drives will alleviate MOST of your problem.
